Jacob represents clients ranging from start-ups to Fortune 20 companies, including many of the leading Bitcoin and cryptocurrency 2.0 companies, ventures, and industry associations, in a wide variety of IT and technology-focused transactional and regulatory and strategic counseling matters.

One area of focus in Jacob’s practice is electronic financial services, including Bitcoin and other virtual currencies, cryptocurrency 2.0 initiatives, mobile payments and financial services, traditional and emerging payment systems, payment processing, and prepaid access. Jacob represents electronic financial services clients in negotiating a wide variety of agreements including mobile payments and wallets, direct carrier billing, mobile commerce, online payments, credit card processing and gateway services, and payment processing. He also counsels clients regarding compliance with various financial regulatory regimes including federal money service business laws, state money transmitter laws, and consumer credit and protection laws; PCI and other data security and technology standards; card association rules; and privacy and data security matters. Jacob’s practice also includes the representation of clients before various regulatory agencies including the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

More generally, Jacob represents clients across a broad variety of industries, with an emphasis on communications, mobile, social networking, online service provider, emerging payments, interactive entertainment, and healthcare companies.

In addition, Jacob represents telecommunications, cable, wireless, IP-enabled provider, broadcast and other clients before the Federal Communications Commission and state public utility commissions.
